Happy 3 Years to Us! | Anniversary Session at Dundurn Castle |

Today we celebrate three years of marriage and the only quote I want to post is one I’ve shared many times: “we don’t just get to grow old together, we get to grow up together-and that is the real adventure”

My parents were best friends. Growing up, all I knew was I was “supposed” to be best friends with whoever I was supposed to marry. There was supposed to be history. There was supposed to be time together before we started a new adventure. If you know our story, then you know 3 things: one, we dated for 3 months; two, we were engaged for 3 months; and three, we met online and I knew before I even met him in person that I was going to marry him. That was a really scary thing to know when you were taught your whole life to marry your best friend.

And so even though I had never met him, I knew where it was going to go. He knew it, too.

So maybe we didn’t have years together like my parents did or his parents did. But we have three years. Three years of adventures, three years of making and reaching goals, three years of hard work, three years of learning, three years of happiness, three years of tears, three years of cooking and dancing in the kitchen, three years of late night movie watching, and three years of SO MUCH FUN. And we have forever to go.

Remember, your legacy of love does not start or end with you (refer to my post from my parent’s anniversary). My fraternal grandparents’s legacy of love shows in how we dance together as a family. My maternal grandparents’s legacy of love shows in the way that no matter what life throws, we stick together. My parent’s legacy of love shows in the way we spend time together. And i hope that one day our children will see that our legacy of love is shown in the way we trust each other and the way we trust God and His timing
