When Brenna from Wild Honey Weddings asked me to be the photographer for her “Winter is Coming” styled shoot (inspired by the TV show, Game of Thrones), I couldn’t say no! Game of Thrones was one of my favourite TV shows (before the last season though, let’s be honest)! Brenna says,

“This shoot, titled Winter is Coming was designed to celebrate the coming launch of the newest Game of Thrones season. We wanted to show brides that it is possible to incorporate a theme into your wedding without sacrificing the sophistication and class of your event. To achieve this, we decided to avoid emulating the aesthetic of the popular tv show, but rather make subtle references to the storyline to maintain an elegant atmosphere.

Perhaps the most obvious of these references was the quote from Game of Thrones weddings “from this day, until the end of my days” which adorned both the banner above the fireplace and bands of the stationary. We also utilized glass chalices, protea, and glassware resembling dragon eggs, regal jewellery, a custom gown, and an icy blue palate. Reference was made to the theme song of the series by adding burning fire to the background of the bridal portraits.

What really gave the shoot it’s edge though, in my opinion, was the importance of strong posing. By using regal body language, our model was able to portray and embody the strong female characters in Game of Thrones.”

I loved Brenna’s vision for this shoot. I’ve seen so many GOT-inspired editorials, but never anything so classy and bright! Check out the feature on Dear Bride, which was posted on the weekend of the series finale!
